Each of the Austin Foundation's programs concentrate's on building a child's physical, social, mental and emotional strength through constructive fitness training and instruction. The continued success of these courses has allowed the Austin foundation to offer an increasing number and variety of fitness, education and youth leadership programs. Youth & Fitness (Signature Program)
Youth & Fitness is our cornerstone program and is designed to encourage participants to try new activities, discover new, enjoyable exercises and learn basic nutrition and general fitness principles
Youth & Fitness is our cornerstone program and is designed to encourage participants to try new activities, discover new, enjoyable exercises and learn basic nutrition and general fitness principles. Through a sampling of different forms of physical activity and nutrition, youth learn the core components of fitness and how to apply them in their everyday lives.
Youth & Fitness is a six-week program offered quarterly at Garfield Community Center. Participants meet once a week, or twice weekly during the summer program. The end of the cycle is culminates with a celebration honoring the accomplishments of each of the students. Our signature program has been successful in building stronger youth and forming future leaders. Many Youth & Fitness participants go on to become Austin Foundation interns, junior trainers and assistant trainers. After School programs
Our on-site after school programs teach youth the important role of fitness and proper nutrition in a healthy lifestyle.

A certified trainer and assistant run two hour sessions twice weekly, providing youth a safe place to gain confidence and self-esteem while building healthy relationships with adults and peers alike.

Teen Express Programs/Late Night Programs
In partnership with the Seattle Parks Department, the Austin Foundation hosts 10 Teen Express and Late Night programs at community and teen centers the area.
In partnership with the Seattle Parks Department, the Austin Foundation hosts 10 Teen Express and Late Night programs at community and teen centers the area. The Teen Express Fitness programs focus on exercise routines that engage teens and encourage them to keep making safe and healthy decisions. These programs also stress family participation by hosting monthly demonstrations on fitness and nutrition.

In-School Physical Education Day Classes
Our in-school day physical education classes allow youth to earn PE credits towards graduation.

The Austin Foundation's specialized community fitness programs serve incarcerated teens enrolled at in-patient alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs.
The Austin Foundation's specialized community fitness programs serve incarcerated teens enrolled at in-patient alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs. These classes are designed to bolster self-esteem, increase self-motivation and encourage participants to use physical fitness as a positive tool towards getting clean. Youth are encouraged to check out equipment from the counselors to release the stress of detoxification throughout the week. Community fitness programs are currently offered on-site at the King County Juvenile Detention Center. Many participants in the Community Fitness Program choose to continue their self-improvement by partaking in various Austin Foundation fitness programs after their release.

In-School Physical Education Day Classes
Fitness Passport is a fun way to engage youth and family of all ages in exercise and nutrition education. These one-day events consist of a circuit of fitness and obstacle stations. As youth go through the different stations they receive a stamp/sticker on their passport showing they have accomplished the activity at that station.
Fitness Passport is a fun way to engage youth and family of all ages in exercise and nutrition education. These one-day events consist of a circuit of fitness and obstacle stations. Together, the stations cover the primary components of fitness. Each station is manned by Austin Foundation trainers, interns and Junior Trainers who provide the youth with help and motivation. Small prizes are awarded to participants who reach certain goals for individual obstacle and fitness stations. The Austin Foundation has hosted the Fitness Passport circuit at a wide variety of community and private events. The excitement and challenge of the Fitness Passport has been known to entertain and energize participants of all ages. Bob Wainio Youth Scholarship Memberships
This program provides selected youth with no-charge gym memberships to the NOW IS Fitness Center.
Recipients have full access to all of the health club's equipment and facilities,
and have the chance to work with a trainer on a daily basis.
The one-on-one attention provides “at risk” youth a comfortable environment where trainers
and adults can provide support and guidance through targeted fitness and youth development.
Bob Wainio Youth Members gain invaluable self-esteem and confidence that is critical to
living a healthy and fit lifestyle.
Junior Trainers The eight week Junior Trainer program is held during the summer and requires a four-day-per-week commitment. Each Junior Trainer receives a stipend upon completing the program. The Junior Trainer program provides these young people with real-world job skills and invaluable leadership experience.
CHAT (Community Health Action Team) By advocating for in-school physical education curriculum that matches the strategies employed by out-of school community organizations, Teen CHAT members have a chance to directly improve the fitness education opportunities for youth throughout the area and the entire State of Washington. Since the program's inception, Teen CHAT participants have expressed their views in dozens of community meetings, advocacy trainings and policy discussions.
